Scholarships

The Scholarship Program awards college and vocational scholarships to promising foster children or emancipated foster children in Los Angeles County. Once a student is awarded a scholarship, they are assigned a committee member as a mentor. The mentor serves as a liaison to the committee and advises the student for the duration of their education. Mentors are an important part of the program and make the FOFC Scholarship Program unique. The committee works hard to create and maintain one-on-one relationships with the students, as well as offer moral support and encouragement. This personal touch is often what is needed to help the student succeed.

Since May 2003, FOFC has helped over 80 students graduate from incredible schools including:

  • California State Polytechnic School (CalPoly) - Pomona
  • California State University - Los Angeles (Cal State LA)
  • University of California - Santa Barbara
  • University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA)
  • University of California - Berkeley
  • University of California - Fullerton
  • University of La Verne
  • University of Southern California (USC)

First-year awards are $500.00 for community colleges & vocational schools and $1,000.00 for four-year colleges & universities. The scholarship is renewable. You can help by donating to FOFC and/or becoming a member today.
