Projects

Our current projects include:

Sugar Plum Trees: Starting on the Friday after Thanksgiving, FOFC sets up Christmas trees in the Westfield Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia. These trees are filled with Christmas wishes from over 400 individual foster children and 10 residential treatment centers. Each child will receive at least one of the gifts they request. Many children comment that this is the first time in their life they have received a new Christmas gift for which they have wished. It is heartwarming to see the generosity people have for children they have never met. This is truly the magic of Christmas!

We also work with "outside groups" (local businesses) that help us collect gifts. Please contact [email protected] if your business or group would like to participate.

Beach Towels: We ensure each child has their own beach towel and bottle of sunscreen for outings to the pool, beach, and water parks. With the help of the National Charity League (NCL) of Pasadena, we collect, sort, and deliver 400 towels and bottles of sunscreen annually.

BINGO: BINGO is played monthly at Hathaway-Sycamores as a reward for good behavior by the boys. We provide prizes and special refreshments to make it a fun night.

The facility says, "The boys really enjoy BINGO and are happy when it is BINGO night."

School Supplies: From July through September, we have a school supply drive. Each year, we distribute around 20,000 items to five (5) residential treatment centers.

Schools supplies include:

  • Pens, markers, pencils, and erasers
  • Notebooks, binders, and paper
  • Rulers, protractors, and calculators
  • Backpacks and pencil cases
  • Glue sticks
  • Flash drives
  • Valentines & Easter Treats delivered to homes
  • Halloween candy and Movies delivered to homes
  • and anything else requested

Local Boy Scout Troops help to sort, package, and carry the boxes out to cars for delivery to the centers.
